D2CL Season 8 Is Put on Hold

Epic Esports Events have announced their decision to put on hold the eighth season of Dota 2 Champions League, which started just last week. The Russian company said that currently it is unable to conduct the event. It remains unknown when the event will resume.

D2CL 8’s line-up mostly features teams from the Eastern European regions with multiple Ukrainian, Russian and Belarus players. The decision comes amidst the recent Russian invasion of Ukraine. The company says that they are “in favour of resolving the current crisis as soon as possible and against any action that hurts innocent people”.

The tournament started on February 21st and featured a $50,000 prize pool. The event was about half-way through the group stage, with HYDRA (2-0) and Nemiga (2-0) being the leaders of Group A, and No Monkey Business (3-1) and Team Empire (3-1) leading in Group B.
